This is a great activity during Diwali for kids - combine a child's joy of creating sand art (with easy to use templates) and the traditions of making Rangoli.
Rangoli, a Hindu folk art is used to decorate the entrances and walls of houses on special occasions & festivals. They also signify a warm welcome for visitors. Many traditionalists also believe that drawing of Rangolis on the floor near the main doorway of the house warded off evil spirits.
Sand Art –Festive Rangoli: This art form uses coloured sand of a uniform mesh and glue for creating the Rangoli designs. The designs are not done on the floor but on stiff card paper. This form of art has permanence and can be preserved, displayed or gifted. In this kit 3 pictures on card paper are included (10”X10”). The pictures depict traditional forms - designs specially meant for even children.. Eight different colours of uniformly meshed sand are provided in sachets. The adhesive glue provided in the pack serves to bind the sand on the picture and can be applied with the brush provided in the kit.
